演艺经历
Veruca Salt, named after a character from Roald Dahl's 1964 book, was formed in Chicago in 1992 by Louise Post and Nina Gordon. They began playing music together and writing songs for a year and a half before recruiting Gordon's brother Jim Shapiro on drums and Steve Lack on bass. Songwriting was mainly done individually by Gordon and Post. The band signed with Minty Fresh Records and released their first single "Seether"/"All Hail Me" in 1994, which was a success. They toured with Hole and released their first album, American Thighs, which reached Gold status. "Seether" and "All Hail Me" were later listed as top grunge songs. After signing with Geffen Records, "Seether" became an MTV hit, but a second single's video was pulled due to band dissatisfaction, leading Geffen to cease further marketing. A stop-gap EP was released in 1996, and Veruca Salt appeared in Pavement's video.Their second album, Eight Arms to Hold You, produced by Bob Rock, was released in 1997. Lead single "Volcano Girls" was the opening theme to the film Jawbreaker. Veruca Salt performed "Shutterbug" on Saturday Night Live, but Nina Gordon claimed they were mistakenly introduced as "Veronica Salt" during the live show.Shapiro left the band soon after Eight Arms' release due to drumming pressures, and was replaced by Stacy Jones. Jones toured with the band and appeared in their music videos. In 1997, Veruca Salt opened for Bush on a North American tour.
