LINE-UP: Felipe Eregion – vocals, guitars Vinnie Tyr – guitars M. Mictian – bass B. Drumond – drums One of the most notorious black metal bands hailing from Brazil, Unearthly was established by the end of 1998, with M. Mictian on bass and Lord Thoth on guitars and vocals. The group’s first demo,“Blessed are the Destroyers of False Hope”, was released in june 2000, and the second one, “Living Under the Sign of Blasphemy” was launched in august 2001. Both works had good acceptance within the scene and received good reviews, which guaranteed Unearthly many concerts in their native country. But it was only in 2002 that “Infernum – Prelude to a New Reign”, their debut full-length album, was released in Brazil and in the US and Canada. After performing live in Brazil’s most important cities and festivals, performing with the likes of Malevolent Creation, Behemoth, Hate Eternal, besides some Brazilian acts such as Sepultura, Unearthly started recording their sophomore album. Released by the end of 2003, “Black Metal Commando” – produced by Fabiano Penna (ex-Rebaelliun/The Ordher) – showed more death metal influences, although still maintaining their black metal identity. By the middle of 2004, Lord Thoth, co-founder and singer, left the band and was replaced by Agares (ex-Mysteriis, who performed in all the concerts of the “War Massacre” Tour in that same year). The definitive frontman however came only in the next year, 2005, when Felipe Eregion joined the band as vocalist and eventually took over the guitar duties as well. In 2007, Unearthly toured throughout many countries in South America and in 2007, commemorating their 10th anniversary, the first albums were re-released, as well as also a live one (Revelations of Holy Lies…Live!) and a compilation (Black Biography – Unmerciful Personalized Bestiality). Also, Unearthly recorded “Age of Chaos”, released in june 2009. Produced by Ciero at DaTribo Studios (Krisiun, Torture Squad, Claustrofobia), “Age of Chaos” also received good critique worldwide, especially in Brazil, where the most important metal magazine in the country (Roadie Crew) gave the album 10/10. In 2011, after two years working on new material, Unearthly finally entered Hertz Studio (Bialystok, Poland) to record the album”Flagellum Dei”, with Wojtek and Slawek Wieslawski (Vader, Hate, Decapitated). With 11 tracks, “Flagellum Dei” was released in Brazil in november 2011, and was also released in Russia and Ukraine. Once again the band’s work was received with great acceptance, getting a 10/10 in magazines and other very good reviews worldwide. In 2012, the band visited Europe for the first time in the “Baptizing the East in Blood” tour, where 15 gigs where scheduled in Russia and in the Ukraine. In the city of Voronezh, the group recorded its first DVD and also a live CD, both entitled “Baptizing the East in Blood – Live at Voronezh, Russia”, released in 2013 in Brazil, Russia and the Ukraine. Still in 2013, the band scheduled a massive 2-month tour that traveled through the countries of Russia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, besides many others. With a solid 16-year career, Unearthly has evolved their music into black/death metal heavily influenced by Brazilian music. The band’s name has deep roots in their native country, and is now growing in countries like Brazil, Mexico, USA, Canada, Peru, Slovakia, Russia and Ukraine – that due to the band’s releases as well as the tours, which have visited Brazilian places like Acre and Santa Catarina (the first being in the country’s extreme north, and the second being in the country’s south), besides countries like Bolivia, Romenia, Latvia, amongst many others, many of them which are not common in a band tour route. Above all things, Unearthly is a band that respects and wants to be with their fans. Wherever they are, that is where Unearthly will be. In 2014, after long months of songwriting and rehearsing, the band finally entered the studio the record their fifth full-length album, “The Unearthly”, recorded and mixed at AM Studios, in the band’s hometown, Rio de Janeiro, and mastered by George Bokos (Grindhouse Studios). Balancing perfectly extreme black/death metal and Brazilian music, this CD will definitely solidify Unearthly’s name as one of the greatest bands in the hall of extreme metal.
